Exploring Neurodiversity Through Empathy: A Workshop for Primary School Students

25 Nov 2024

EYEYAH! was invited to design and facilitate a neurodiversity workshop at Catholic High School, providing a group of primary 6 students with an opportunity to explore neurodiversity through the lens of empathy.

The workshop featured a series of experiential stations—Multi-tasking Madness, Sensory Station, and Listening Loop—designed to immerse students in activities that helped them step into the shoes of others, understand diverse experiences, and reflect on their observations.

After completing the stations, students engaged in meaningful discussions, created empathy maps, and explored various types of intelligence. Their insights and perspectives will inspire content for an upcoming issue of EYEYAH! and assembly programmes, further raising awareness and understanding of neurodiversity.

This workshop demonstrates the power of creative, hands-on learning to foster empathy and celebrate the diversity of experiences among young minds. It highlights the importance of building understanding and compassion in the next generation.
